Southeast Missouri State football Pink Up jersey auction Announced

Wednesday, August 24, 2016

The Southeast Missouri State football team will pull on the pink again.

October 29 will mark the annual Pink Up game, as the Redhawks pull on special Pink Up jerseys when they host Austin Peay.

The game-worn jerseys will be available for purchase via an online auction that began Friday.

The fundraiser supports Saint Francis Healthcare System's Pink Up campaign.

Since its inception, Pink Up and Dig for Life have provided more than 3,200 free mammograms to community women who could not otherwise afford them. Breast cancer affects one in eight women but by catching it early through important screenings such as mammograms, we have a better chance of beating this disease.

"We are thrilled to join Saint Francis to help make a difference in this community," Southeast football coach Tom Matukewicz said in a press release. "We hope this effort raises awareness and money to fight this terrible disease. This will be a life changing experience for our players, who will have the opportunity to meet families that have lost loved ones to cancer."

Bids can be placed at, with the auction closing at 5 p.m. CST on Oct. 8. Winners may personalize the jerseys with a name in honor or memory of a loved one affected by cancer. The game-worn jerseys will be presented following the game on Oct. 29.

Winners will also receive two tickets to the game and an invitation to a pregame tailgate party supporting the cause.

According to the university, the 2015 jersey auction raised $22,000. All 99 jerseys were auctioned off.
