This year, the Malden Christmas Parade will be in the evening instead of immediately following Breakfast with Santa like in the previous years.

“This year the parade will start at 5:30 p.m.,” said Mayor Denton Kooyman. “The parade will follow our usual route with the parade line-up at 5 p.m.,” he added.

Each year the Malden Chambermaids work on fixing up the big sleigh for Santa and his reindeer, who will be making a second appearance in Malden this Saturday.

Last year’s event featured marching bands from both Bernie and Malden schools, as well as floats constructed by area churches and organizations.

Of course, no parade is complete without the police and firetrucks leading the way.

So for those who are not able to make it to the Annual Breakfast with Santa at the Bootheel Youth Museum, located at 700a N. Douglas St., you will get another chance at 5:30 p.m., as Santa takes one last stroll through Malden until his next arrival on Christmas Eve.
