Sylvia Lee Mullen

Sylvia Lee Mullen, 92, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Gideon, was born June 1, 1925 to Sola L. Singleton and Cloa Hill Singleton, in Dexter, and departed this life December 3, 2017 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff. She was united in marriage August 19, 1952, in Piggott, Ark., to Samuel “Jack” Mullen. He preceded her in death January 10, 2013.

Ms. Lee was an active member of her churches, Tallapoosa Baptist and First Baptist of Gideon, for many years. Ms. Lee and Mr. Jack were a ‘Special Couple’ who worked and played together with their family and friends, and were always available to help anyone who needed them. They were very proud of their children and other members of the family, but were especially proud of their youngest daughter, Janice, who gave them a special reason for staying young and active longer than most.

She will be missed because she was a Good Lady, loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and friend.

She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Mullen and Janice Mullen, both of Poplar Bluff; one son, Sam Mullen and wife, Jeannie, of St. Charles, Mo.; four grandchildren, David Dixon of Springfield, Mo., Dr. Matthew Dixon, DVM of Beauford, S.C., Sherry Felker and husband, Kevin, of O’Fallon, Mo., and Scott Mullen and wife, Dawn, of O’Fallon; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Felker and wife, Danielle, Kennedy Felker and Claire Mullen; and two great-great-grandchildren, Hadley Felker and Eva Felker.

In addition to her parents, Sola and Cloa Singleton, and spouse, Jack Mullen, she was preceded in death by one sister, Geraldine Davis.

Visitation will be held from 11a.m. until service time at 12 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Gideon. Funeral services will immediately follow with Rev. Gene Lancaster and Rev. Steve Proctor officiating. Interment will be in Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.

Bradshaw Funeral Homes, Inc. of Malden is in charge of arrangements.
