Gideon GFWC Community Woman’s Club meets
Eighteen members of the GFWC Community Woman’s Club of Gideon and thier guests gathered at the home of Ernestine Davis for a Christmas Social on Dec. 4. The house was beautifully decorated for the season with several Christmas trees. The group enjoyed a delicious buffet meal of Christmastime favorites.
Following dinner the ladies gathered in the meeting room, where Shirley Love, Susie Garland, Ernestine Davis and Glenda Lunbeck exhibited their quilts and other articles of sewing. Each one told of their experience in becoming interested in and beginning quilting. They gave each person a Kleenex holder for their purse.
The group then exchanged Christmas tree ornaments and played Dirty Santa until almost everyone ended up with the ornament they wanted.
The President, Cathy Hilfiker, called the business meeting to order and led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States Flag. During the meeting Christmas projects were planned, and plans made for packing and delivering Christmas food baskets. The Lighting Contest was to take place on December 15. Mrs. Monica Ward and Mrs. Regina Dillard are planning a tree lighting ceremony in the Gideon City Park for Dec. 9 at 5:30 p.m. A new member, Rachel Philips, was welcomed into the club.
